With all the recent complaints on Pampers Dry Max diapers, we switched to Luvs last night. We haven’t had a single problem with Pampers (no rashes or burns) but decided to switch anyway. Last night with the Luvs he slept through the entire night (thats only happened once before) and has barely made a peep today. Just sleeping, eating and smiling.

I’m wondering if there is something in the Pampers Dry Max diapers that was bothering him but just not giving him a rash or anything. He’s a totally different baby today.

Maybe it’s just a fluke. We’ll keep you posted on how he does the rest of the week in the Luvs. Have you had any problems with your Pampers w/ Dry Max?

It’s a new month which means it’s time for more Gifts to Grow bonus points from Pampers.

Pampers is giving away free bonus Gifts to Grow points (up to 100 points) for buying any Pampers diapers with their new Dry Max. I learned about this the hard way.

Because I like bargains, I recently bought a ginormous pack of Pampers Swaddlers w/ Dry Max at Sams Club.  252 diapers for about $35 (or 15 cents/diaper).

Little did I realize that when you buy a pack of Pampers diapers with Dry Max you get bonus Gifts to Grow points! As I entered my points yesterday I noticed that I had received 100 bonus points and wasn’t sure why. I wasn’t complaining though as I always accept free points. I later saw the promotion on their website.

So for my box if diapers I received 162 regular points plus 100 bonus points (the maximum you can get) for a grand total of 262 points. To take advantage of the offer you have to enter the codes before 5/24/10.

As I was setting up the changing table last night, I took the Pampers diapers and started entering in all the codes I had. Even though it takes at least 400 points to buy anything, a pamper saved is a pamper earned! (That sounded less lame in my head)

Even though our little one won’t be big enough for these diapers anytime soon, that doesn’t mean I didn’t sign up for my free sample of Pampers Cruisers with Dry Max!

Since this is our first baby our friends have told us to expect to go through about 10-12 diapers a day and since our friends and family won’t throw us a monthly baby shower to resupply us with diapers, then I’m stocking up on freebies!

As the due date rapidly approaches (5 weeks and 3 days at this posting), it’s getting close to deciding what kind of family we will be.

Are we going to be a Huggies or a Pampers family? I used to think a diaper is a diaper but I now know this is not the case. In the land of “You get what you pay for”, diapers seem to be a force to be reckoned with. Even with the best diapers money can buy, it seems that a baby can find a way to get both pee and poo out of the diaper and onto them and everything around them.

If you have funny story about diaper “failures”, we would love to hear about them in the comments.

The Pampers Swaddlers have drawn me in for some reason. I’ve assumed that we would be a Pampers family for the last 8 months but during our baby shower yesterday we were given a pack of Huggies. Following that, today on TV was this Huggies commercial:

I suppose it could be coincidence that someone we barely know showed up at our baby shower and gave us a pack of Huggies diapers (and it just happened to be positioned to be the first present opened). It could also be a campaign of rogue direct marketing. I’m leaning more towards the later because as I am typing this post the Huggies commercial came on again. I believe Huggies has us under survellience. In all due fairness to them, a new born goes through about 10-12 diapers a day. Newly parents, such as ourselves, who do not yet have a brand preference are prime targets for this type of unorthodoxed marketing. There’s a lot of money to be had.

What’s odd is they have shown the Huggies commercial twice during VH1’s Celebrity Rehab. What an odd place for diaper marketing.

So here’s to you Huggies. You have my attention now. What will really tip the scales is the amount and brand of diapers we get in the next two baby showers.
